Users could buy rail tickets and have them loaded onto a secure chip embedded in the phones. Conductors could then check the tickets by tapping their NFC phones to those of the customers. Mobilkom’s ongoing NFC project launched in 2007 that uses NFC to speed the selling of SMS- and WAP-based tickets and other services does not use the phone’s secure chip.
NFC Times Take:
M-commerce pioneer mobilkom intends to move the ticketing application to SIM cards it issues to subscribers once phones become available with a standard connection between the NFC and SIM chips.
* Trusted Service Manager: Defined loosely to include companies or other organizations securely distributing, provisioning and managing applications, generally over the air, on secure elements in NFC mobile phones; or licensing their platforms for this purpose.
N/A: Not available or not applicable.
