Telco PTC and Polbank EFG expand their cobranded payment card offer with a passive contactless sticker, which the parties launched near the end of 2009. Customers can attach the sticker to most phones or other devices and tap to pay at retail locations where MasterCard PayPass is accepted. They receive transaction updates via SMS. Customers can tap only for amounts of 50 zlotys (US$14.80) and a maximum of five transactions a day totaling 250 zlotys (US$74).
One of three passive contactless sticker projects in Poland as of June 2010, along with stickers issued by ING bank and Bank Zachodni WBK. Telco PTC, which operates under the ERA brand, used the cobranded sticker with Polbank EFG as a prelude to a small NFC trial it launched in May with Internet bank Inteligo. Rival operator Polkomtel is also launching an NFC trial and more projects are planned in Poland.
