A spokeswoman told NFC Times the company plans to expand the service to other European countries this year.

NFC Times Exclusive – A few days ahead of the official launch of Apple Pay in Switzerland earlier this month, Swiss consumer protection group Konsumentenschutz SKS filed a complaint with the Swiss competition officials, contending that Apple’s policy of locking down the embedded chips in its NFC devices is “monopolistic” and is a violation of the country’s antitrust laws. The regulator, however, has declined to launch a formal investigation, deciding to continue to observe the market for now, NFC Times has learned.

The three-month internal trial had employees of Credit Suisse, Swisscard and SIX Multipay tapping their Nokia mobile phones preloaded with Visa payWave applications to pay for meals at staff restauran

Results: 

Over 90% of employees who took part in the internal trial said they liked the ease and convenience of NFC. A large percentage said they wanted to be able to use contactless payment at kiosks and public transport ticket dispensers, according to co-organizer Credit Suisse. The bank also said a survey conducted among cashiers involved in the trial “has also confirmed that contactless technology accelerates and simplifies the payment process in comparison to cash.”
